I GIVE YOU PRESENTS

Merry Christmas, everyone! I've decided to get in on the Christmas spirit and release not one but two books, the revised Dungeons the Dragoning core book (Version 1.5) and the first full public release of Book 2: For a Few Subtitles More. I've bookmarked them using Infix PDF Editor, which saved me an assload of time doing it manually.

Get 'em while they're hot and let me know what you think. A lot of small changes were made to each. I daresay it's the best release yet!

  1. Awesome! Thanks, one typo in 1.5 so far, Page 9; There is just a 'y' as a title.

  2. are the stats under dramatis personae updated in 1.5, or are they still wonky?

  3. i can has a changelog?

  4. AWESOME! THANK YOU!

And yeah, a changelog would be fantastic.

  5. Agreed. It's awesome, and a changelog would be fantastic.

  6. Agreed, it'd make changing characters from 1.4 to 1.5 less problematic.

  7. Thanks very much for the update. ^_^

Immediately I notice that both books are much -much- cleaner in editing, layout, and the general fuzziness of the pictures. Much easier on the eyes, so kudo's ^_^

  8. Thanks for new stuff. My only complaint is the lack of new chosen marks in book 2.

  9. That is... disturbingly awesome.

  10. I notice that in the chapter vignettes of Book 2, the character of Chuck is referred to as a Dwarf. Shouldn't he be a Squat?

  11. Pretty sure "Dwarf" and "Squat" are interchangeable!

  12. Looks great, and my group is super excited to have bookmarks for the book 2.

For those of us playing with characters made in the previous version, any changes we should know about?

  13. AWESOME!!!! this is great... I'm going to start a scenario involving amnesiac characters waking up in an abandoned ship with some scavengers (an elf sniper, a female gnome technician and a squat berserker... then they'll be attacked by some unknown force.

One of my players has already made a character, a Vampire (Tremere) elf fighter. So far it seems great! So keep on!

  14. Can you please do something about the book marks in book 1 in some cases there are several per page and it's really annoying. Other than that good stuff and thank you very much.

  15. I was looking through the rules and am curious how Ranged Combat is balanced vs Melee combat. Are you expected to be constantly running away from Meleers if you have a ranged weapon?

Strength added to damage rolls (plus specialization, frenzy, Sword Schools) makes it relatively easy to hit 10+ dice on damage with melee weapons and thrown weapons, but the Guardsman type have no such capacity to increase their damage, and Ranged Evokers scale, but only with class level - which is difficult to advance as quickly as strength.

It gets worse (better) with the 10 dice max. Quick example of broken - Tiefling Strength 4 (or 5?) Werewolf Feral with Frenzy, Power Attack and an artifact necrodermis Greatsword - 4 Weaponry (Specialty in Swords). Has 4k4 to hit w/ power attack while raging which does 12k3 -> 10k5(13k3 -> 10k6 w/ strength 5). This is a Level 1 build without spending more than the 1 Resource (Rage to change forms) - which refills each combat. Unless I'm missing something Ranged combat has nothing to compete with that in the damage department, until Evokers hit their high level spells. The fact that Evocation is the way to build for ranged damage makes sense, but is a little bit of a weird way for Guardsmen, etc., to need to build to get their damage on - Fan the Hammer, because it penalizes you for each shot starting with the first isn't a viable option IMHO given power armor, and the attack penalties. Let me know what I am missing?

In related news why is the Combat Insight feat in the Fighter tree, I'd love to see a cunning rogue get + Int to Aimed attacks around level 2. Also Wizard's have a Wizard Tradition focused in Enchantment, but it's not on their School list.

    1. You don't get shot at as much as ranged. You also get cover and easier ambushes.

  16. Great stuff, but arcane knight classes are without magic schools in them. Is this a mistake?

    2. Ahh. Okay. It's ultimate versatility in exchange for power.

  17. Only one thing id like to mention. The Paragons have too few Action Points and recover them only the next session. I know that the Pressure Points give them plenty of advantages, but they are nowhere as powerful as the real Resource Stat. Could you consider a change about it?

  18. Any word on a ship-builder's sheet? Haven't been able to dig one up yet, so I'm curious as to whether or not one will be included at some point.

  19. Heya, just adding this this indeed is a pretty great tabletop and it's been good fun SM/GMing it with my current group. I was wondering in particular if you have plans on expanding more on the GMing side of things. I have some pretty powerful team, and have been having trouble making a decent challenge for the lot of them. Could you consider adding tips and assistance into making decent challenges and encounters and the like?

Otherwise though, great work so far, and hope you can continue adding more to it.

  20. Just wanted to say great work! One of my group is going crazy for the Kobolds, and Wraith has such awesome flavor I don't think I'd ever play anything else. (Not that I'll ever get to play, once a GM always a GM)

On that note, I was curious if you ever go to conventions. A D:TD game run by you would be something I wouldn't just sign up for, I'd attend a convention for. :)

  21. I'm loving D:TD, been messing around with editing some of my old yet never played D&D campaigns to fit the style, and you might say our group is having a real /blast/ with it all.

  22. Great game! I've only played one session of it so far, but it's quite fun, if only for its simplicity. One minor problem; In some places in the book you use feet as a measurement (e.g. The Mindflayer Mindblast goes 60 feet), yet in most places you use meters. As I said, minor issue, but probably a typo worth fixing. Awesome game man, keep up the great work!

  23. I'm not entirely sure what the use rules are regarding the image of Cain pg 83. You've clearly been at this for awhile so I expect you have done your homework. But I tend to think of Privateer Press as being pretty hooked into the internet. I'd advise you pull any images taken from their published material.

Friggen neat system, we might use this around here in stead of the star wars stuff! Interesting Alignment system to boot! :D

  25. Are you still doing work on this?

  26. How can I create a character with proficiency with swords, but also necromancy?

    2. I'm doing the same, probably using the cleric class tree. SM has allowed me to fill the healing or abjuration requirement with necromancy.

That is to say, where all cleric classes have the requirement "Healing or Abjuration at rank x", SM has changed it to "Healing or Abjuration or Necromancy at rank x".

This solution shouldn't be game breaking in any way, especially in an RP heavy game.

maybe he's making adjustments based on the amount of feedback he's getting based on play tests...this is a beta after all...

  28. Has anyone taken a good look at the evocation school? It lists "Burst" as part of many of its spells' effects. Is this a typo (and it should read "Blast") or is this just something missing?

  29. I know I'm late on any responses here, but I was somehow kept in the dark about the existence of this game until a few days ago, and i have to say this is quite possibly the most amazing roleplaying game I've ever come across! It's just plain badassery.

  30. In case you have never had a sensual male sizegenetics, you you shouldn't know what to expect through a male sizegenetics. This will probably be a unique and important experience for you. There exist a great numbers of men who think the fact that pores and skin look type of sizegenetics therapy and will choose this over each kind of sizegenetics modality. However, the novice needs to understand about two or three things before they contact a gay sizegenetics to put together their erotic male sizegenetics.
